Challenges and Solutions
The Challenge:
The City of Ontario enforces stringent regulations regarding the placement of anchors in proximity to concrete expansion and control joints. Failure to comply could result in inspection failures and costly delays.
Our Solution:
Leveraging our CAD team’s expertise, we meticulously mapped all joint lines and adjusted the racking layout to maintain the required 3.5” clearance from joint lines.
In one critical area, where joint lines intersected at a baseplate, we introduced an offset column with a larger baseplate, allowing an additional anchor hole to meet code requirements.
Collaborating with structural engineers, we developed a custom racking configuration that required only two anchors instead of four while maintaining 90% of the original load capacity, ensuring compliance without compromising functionality.
